Rubicon Cares - Training Programme - 2012 / 2013

Training Events 2012-2013

 

Please find below Rubicon Cares training events for 2012-2013.  All sessions are 9.30am – 1.30pm and will be held in Maidstone Community Support Centre, 39-48 Marsham, Street, Maidstone, ME14 1HH.  Cost is £50 per session per person.  To book a place or for more details please contact us via the details below or complete the application form below.  Payment is required for confirmation of booking.

 

 

Working with Trauma (1) – 7 April 2012  ( 9.30am – 1.30pm)  £50

This course will highlight what actually happens in the body at times of trauma and then how this reaction effects the cognitive, affective, behavioural and felt physiological sense of the body and how this in turn has an impact on a person's coping mechanisms and so their overall experience of trauma.

 

Working with Trauma (2) -   5 May 2012  ( 9.30am – 1.30pm)  £50

This session will recap on the neurophysiology of trauma. We will then focus on application of theory to practice so it becomes transferable to the client sitting in front of you. Attendance at Working with Trauma (1) is helpful though not essential.

 

Investigation OR Counselling.....Can we have both? – 12 May 2012  (12noon-5pm)  £65

An informal, relaxed session to examine your role/responsibilities when working with victims of serious sexual assault and/or rape.  The trainer, a retired detective officer, will take you through many aspects from investigation to trial and beyond.  Understand the expectations of the justice system and balance that against the needs of the individual.

 

Alcohol -   9 June 2012    (10am – 4pm)  £65

This session will include effects of alcohol, what is addiction, and the effects of combining certain drugs either with each other or with alcohol, or both.  We will then focus on working with addiction in counselling, cycle of change and motivational interviewing techniques.

 

Working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse -14 July 2012 ( 9.30am – 1.30pm)  £50

A session of questions and answers in order to understand the complexity of childhood abuse and the effects on victims in adult life.  Areas covered will be emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

 

Short term/Goal focused Counselling -   8 September 2012  ( 9.30am – 1.30pm)  £50

This session will focus on short term/goal focused/time limited counselling theory and application when working with victims.  The session will also cover the importance of assessment and assessment technique in time-limited practice

 

Stress and Anxiety – 10 November 2012  ( 9.30am – 1.30pm)  £50

The workshop is aimed at providing knowledge and understanding on physical, psychological and behavioural symptoms of stress, it's management and prevention. Gain knowledge of a range of techniques and strategies to help tackle stress including recognising and modifying thinking errors, relaxation skills, Type A modification and stress mapping.

 

Domestic violence -   19 January 2013  ( 10am – 4pm)  £65

This session will include understanding and working with domestic violence, behaviours of perpetrators and effects on victims.  We will then focus on the place of risk assessments in different service provisions including therapy and joint working across agencies.
